Meet Allison and Ryan. We photographed their wedding this past weekend at Mercury Hall. These first 2 images we shot
with our iphone and a polaroid app. Maybe soon we will be able to do a whole wedding like that, that might be fun.

What was definitely fun was this wedding. It had all the right ingredients; a handsome couple, a fabulous dress, a great band, a
dj spinning records, a photo booth and friends and family ready to celebrate. What also helped to make this event special
were all the D.I.Y details. The brides sister made her bouquet and other family members made the succulent arrangements for the
centerpieces. The sign in table had monogrammed notes cards made by the brides friend Christina, and included all the tools to
decorate and personalize your best wishes for the bride and groom. They also stamped their monogram on white paper bakery
bags to take cookies home with you when you left.

As well I appreciated that they did things their own way. I loved the unusual choice and use of the color green; green ties on the guys,
green shoes for the bride, green earrings and a great big green ring. No cake for these two, it was cobbler and ice cream, toppings
and cookies, and they toasted with sundaes with smurfs on top! And last but not least, their choice of Blue Jay, their dog, for ring bearer
was perfect. Blue Jay sported a custom made ring bearer pillow made by friend, Shalou.

Lindsay and Shawn were married last weekend at Austin’s One World Theater. It was an elegant winter wedding with bridesmaids
in black and the tables and chairs dressed in silver. Verbena Floral Design kept it simple with all white flowers; the brides bouquet
was all white orchids. The cake, by Simon Lee Bakery, was also white, simple and elegant, and oh so delicious.

My sister is a part of this family, and so over the last few years I have gotten to know Lindsay and her family better. It has always
been a pleasure and I was glad to be a part of this important family event.

Recently I was working on a photo assignment that had to do with catharsis.
I thought I might photograph something that represented my painting practice.
I then realized I have had this same palette knife since 1983, when I purchased it while studying in Paris.
27 years.

We have been photographing weddings for many years, and so I am always pleasantly surprised when we come across what I call,
“firsts”. This Green Pastures wedding had two: Jeremy was our first groom to have braids, and Emily was the first bride to have
her dress made by a bridesmaid. Awesome!
I loved the shared creativity and abundantly apparent love this bride and groom had for each other. I loved the music they chose
for the reception, Paco Estrada and One Love, and their wonderful guests and family.

Christy and JC will be married this coming June, so they are right on time with this wonderful “Save the Date” card.
We did not take these photos, (I wish!), they did it themselves. I love how they took the time to think it out and do the different parts
as they traveled around. First the mountains of Santa Fe, New Mexico and then the desert  and beach of Dubai, where they
are currently residing.
Such a beautiful couple, I look forward to seeing more of them in June.

Between Christmas and New Years we met up with Lillian and Caleb to do a photo shoot before their March wedding. They came
in from their home in NYC to visit family for the holidays.
We started our photo adventure at Baby A’s on Barton Springs road because that is where they met years back when they both
worked at the restaurant. From there we moved around, exploring bamboo forests and laundry basket rides. We finished our
photo session on the quieter side at Lillian’s family home.

We are looking forward to the wedding!
