Lubbock: wedding

The big day arrives and we meet the bride and groom at the church for some getting ready photos and a few family and wedding
party shots before the ceremony. The church was filled with daylight and the aisle was lined with lilies and hydrangea.

One of my favorite parts about this wedding was the many children. Their energy was unpredictable and abundant, and their
displays of affection were plentiful and sincere.

The reception was held in downtown Lubbock at The Legacy. This building was once a church, and as you can see from the photo
below still retained the church organ and its high vaulted ceilings. They had a wonderful jazz band playing all my favorite classic
wedding songs and the cake was beautiful and delicious, (some of the best fondant frosting I have tasted in awhile). They departed
in a shower of red rose petals and was surprised to find no car awaiting, but as you can see from their great big smiles that certainly
didn’t matter.

All and all it was an incredible wedding with wonderful people and the perfect bride and groom.
Thank you so much Hannah and Nick for including us, hope to see you in Austin!

Lubbock: rehearsal and dinner

Since we were in Lubbock for the weekend we decided we would tag along and go to the rehearsal at the church. It is there
that we had the opportunity to meet all of the immediate family. Nick, the groom, comes from a large immediate family, and
with all the nieces and nephews it made for quite a scene.

The rehearsal dinner took place at a wonderful spot called Home Cafe. Typically opened to the public, they made special
arrangements to close it for this private event. The table settings, flowers, photos on the walls and the balloons covering the
ceiling made the setting festive and welcoming. Chicken Fried Steak, fruit cobbler and lemonade, amongst the many passed
hors’dourves, made for the perfect menu.

I know we overdid it a bit taking photos of the kids, but they were amazing subjects. They were so excited about the party,
being together and of course the many balloons.

destination: Lubbock

Hannah and Nick contacted us about a year ago to photograph their August wedding in their home town of Lubbock, TX.
I had met Nick at the Santa Fe photo workshops a few years back when I was working there.
We flew up to Lubbock for the long weekend to capture the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day. It also allowed us a
little time to do some photo exploring in the downtown area.

Nick and Hannah met in high school during drivers education. Before the actual wedding rehearsal we went over to their
high school to commemorate their beginnings.
